The first dress seen on screen was worn by Audrey Hepburn in 1967 in Stanley Donen’s comedy, Two For The Road.
The short dress, decorated all over with round silver sequins, was immediately dubbed the “Audrey dress”.

It was the first in a long series of creations, as Mr Rabanne went onto design many costumes used for example in Casino Royale directed by Val Guest, Les Poneyttes by Joël Le Moigné and Barbarella by Roger Vadim, in 1968.

This movie was an adaptation of the science-fiction comic book set in the year 40 000 where Jane Fonda stars as an astronaut with luscious curves, modeled on Brigitte Bardot.

But the relationship between Mr Rabanne and cinema did not stop at the screen.
Actresses became muses for the designer. He dressed them in their day-to-day lives.
